Leah completed a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Western Oregon State College in 1993. Leah graduated from Oregon State/Washington State Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. After receiving her DVM degree, Leah completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Tacoma Equine Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Leah was accepted to an equine internal medicine residency at the University of California at Davis. She was classically trained in equine internal medicine and completed her board certification in May 2001 (DACVIM, 2001).

Recently Dr. Leah became certified in Veterinary Acupuncture, Equine emphasis, from the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies located in Australia. Dr. Leah Gray continues to keep up to date with innovative treatments including regenerative medicine with the help of Alpha 2 macroglobulin, a new orthobiologic option for injections that is harvested from the horse to aid in healing joints, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, as well as respiratory disease.

She is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Leah practices nearly exclusively on horses out at the farm or at our equine facility in North Albany on Palestine Ave. She is looking forward to expanding her field and is now seeing horses along the coast. Her interests include neonatal and critical care and chronic pain management.

Dr. Leah works to sustain a balanced life with career, family, friends, service as a church elder, fostering horses, and supporting local causes like the ABC House, Safe Haven, and Walk for the Cause. She began fostering two rescue mares and adopted Charlie, who she is training to be her combined driving horse. Dr. Leah tries to stay active outdoors hiking, gardening, and horseback riding. Dr. Leah and Dr. David Gray have been married for 27 years. They started River’s Edge Pet Medical Center 17 years ago when their two kids were just babies. Mason is working through a diagnostic imaging program, and Madison is in her senior year of high school with dreams of becoming an equine veterinarian herself.

Recently Dr. Leah has been invited to sit on the case review committee for large animal internal medicine, ACVIM.

Dr. Leah’s passion continues to be Equine welfare.
