What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a healing therapy that has been used in Chinese medicine for over 2000 years. It can be used as a preventive medicine or in conjunction with Western medicine.Veterinary acupuncture is known as one of the safest forms of medical treatment because it is without dangerous side effects that can come with conventional medicines.
How does it work?
Acupuncture works by inserting needles into specific points of the body to release endorphins and produce a healing response. Insertion of needles is virtually painless; pets have even been known to fall asleep during their sessions.
What can Acupuncture be used to treat?
Contrary to popular belief, acupuncture can be used for more than just the alleviation of pain associated with certain conditions such as arthritis or dysplasia. Acupuncture can also help bring relief to numerous conditions such as:
- Back Pain
- Ligament, Joint, Nerve or Muscle Injuries
- Surgery Recovery
- Gastrointestinal Conditions
- Reproductive Problems
- Behavior Problems
- Respiratory Conditions
- Dermatological Conditions
It is possible to see improvement in just one acupuncture session although many conditions require multiple sessions. Depending on the severity of your pet’s condition our veterinarian will determine the number of acupuncture sessions necessary for desired progression.
